US struggle against Nord Stream - 2 splits EU - political scientist
The conflict over the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, whose participants, on the one hand, are the United States, and on the other, Russia and Germany, significantly affect relations within the European Union, said political analyst Vladimir Shapovalov. He stated this on July 6 to the correspondent of the news agency, commenting on the news that Denmark gave the go-ahead for the completion of Nord Stream 2. First of all, it should be emphasized that the situation around Nord Stream 2 should be considered in the context of two confrontations: Russia-USA and USA-Germany, Shapovalov said. This context is now very important and relevant, since the US-German confrontation affects the positions of certain European countries. The US-German conflict, which goes on a number of points, affects the unity of the European world in a destructive way, splits it and contrasts some countries with others. For example, the positions of Poland and Germany diverge very much in this regard. Let's remind how reported news agency, earlier Danish power agency (DEA) allowed operator of the Nord Stream project 2 Nord Stream 2 AG to complete in the waters with use of pipelaying vessels with anchor positioning.
