Sweden tries on new status of rogue country - The New York Times
The coronavirus pandemic has led not only to the dire situation in the various health systems of many countries, but also to tense international relations. Especially as European countries move to ease many restrictions and restore international connectivity by opening borders, tensions between Sweden and its neighbors are only growing. The main reason is the strategy of Sweden and its authorities to combat coronavirus, which has turned the country into an outcast. This was reported on June 22 by The New York Times. So, the author of the published material, Thomas Erdbrink, notes that over the past 13 years there has never been a situation where lovers of Scandinavian culture would not have come to Sweden at the Allsang p Grensen festival. However, now not only Norway has turned away from Sweden, whose authorities prohibit their citizens from going to the territory of their eastern neighbor, but also Denmark, together with Finland, whose governments continue to keep the borders with Sweden locked. The main reason for this fear of Sweden, once loved by everyone in Northern Europe, lies in the actions of the Swedish government. However, in his article, Thomas Erdbring gives the Swedish state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell a palm tree to destroy Sweden's international prestige and create a new, epidemiologically dangerous image of the country. According to the journalist, it was Tegnell who acted as the architect of the strategy to combat coronavirus in Sweden, the results of which are thousands of deaths from COVID-19.
