Hospitals in Latvia resume scheduled reception of patients
In Latvia, the normal operation of medical institutions, frozen at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, is being restored. The number of patients in need of medical care whose admission has been postponed and postponed indefinitely is in the thousands. If earlier we could provide four consultations per hour, now due to safety requirements and the need to disinfect the equipment, it is only two or three patients. Imant Paeglitis, Chairman of the Board of Riga Eastern Clinical Hospital, told SUMMER Agency in an interview. First of all, clinics will serve patients who were recorded at the reception earlier. The East Hospital alone is about 6,000 people. From 13 March to 12 May, an Emergency Regime was introduced in the LR by a Government decision due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 7, the emergency regime in Latvia was extended until June 9 with a number of easing. These measures have had a negative impact on the economic situation in the country.
