US Supreme Court allows Trump to continue to build a Mexican wall
The US Supreme Court, by a minimum majority, allowed the construction of the wall on the country's border with Mexico to continue. This was reported on July 31 by CNN. According to the channel, human rights activists previously called on members of the Supreme Court to cancel the decision taken in 2019, which allowed the US government to continue building a wall on the Mexican border. As a result of the vote, with a minimum margin of five against four, a decision was made allowing the continuation of the construction of a protective barrier. It is noted that in July, a federal appeals court issued a decision stating that the administration of US President Donald Trump did not have the authority to divert Pentagon funds without congressional permission for such construction. Recall that in the summer of 2019, the US Supreme Court allowed the administration to use $2.5 billion of funds allocated by Congress for the Department of Defense to build a wall on the Mexican border. According to the news agency, on July 12, US President Donald Trump said that about 400 km of wall were currently built on the border between the United States and Mexico.
